When we first met Katy and George they already had an idea about the theme of their stationery, describing themselves as "arty people". George had proposed to Katy down on one knee at the Manchester City Art Gallery, presenting her with a diamond engagement ring that he had designed himself and had made by a good friend. It had sat hidden in a drawer for three months until he could engineer the perfect proposal in front of her favourite painting. They both wanted their stationery to have a fine art feel whilst retaining a funky, modern edge.
After their consultation, we put together some designs for the couple to choose from. They opted to send mini free-standing canvas invitations which used one of their favourite holiday snaps. The brown paper luggage tag helped continue the fine art theme and burnt orange ribbon complimented the orange gerbra that Katy knew she wanted to have on all the tables. Between us we chose a funky, spotty font with deep purple and red colours to perfectly accent the design.
The couple married in a Church in their home town, after which the wedding party strolled downhill past stunning, rolling countryside to the local pub for the reception. Katy carried white calla lilies tied with burnt orange ribbon and wore a traditional chiffon and duchess satin dress, hand finished with Swarovski crystals.
The tables continued to reflect the theme and were named after Katy and George's favourite artists; name places doubled as napkin rings displaying their guests' photos printed onto canvas.
As an alternative Guest Book we created a set of three canvases stacked on top of one another displaying the original image from their invitation. Brown paper luggage labels, round headed pins and pencils allowed for guests to write a message to the bride and groom and pin it to the canvas.
On return from honeymoon, the couple sent postcard style Thank You notes which continued the fine art theme through its use of brown luggage labels, showing the happy couple leaving the Church.
